We are now only 3 weeks away from making our way to Birmingham’s NEC to take part in the 45th edition of Naidex! We are eager for you to meet our lovely team, who will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.

As you may already know, our very own Co-Founder, Daniel Vong, will be presenting a seminar on “Assistive Technology: How Data Analytics Impact Blind Lives” on the 26th March, 2pm, Seminar Theatre 3. Similarly, you will also be able to find us at the stand N5112 over the 2 days.

Be the first to experience BAWA Cane, a clip-on device making every white cane smart, at Naidex.

A sneak-peek into Assistive Technology

Assistive technology is an umbrella term that includes assistive, adaptive, and rehabilitative devices for people with disabilities or elderly population.

According to WHO, only 1 in 10 people have access to the assistive technology they need due to lack of awareness, availability, trained personnel, policy, and financing1. To put things differently, more than 1 billion people need some form of assistive technology today. With the growing and ageing of population, more than 2 billion people will need at least 1 assistive product by 2030, with many older people needing 2 or more. Above all, assistive technology is a huge opportunity for businesses alongside social impact.

“My advice to other disabled people would be, concentrate on things your disability doesn’t prevent you from doing well, and don’t regret the things it interferes with. Don’t be disabled in spirit, as well as physically.” – Stephen Hawking

Assistive product is not limited to physical hardware but making software more accessible is the way forward. UK Government estimates disabled people and their families had an aggregate annual household income of £249 billion2. However, this collective purchasing power is ignored, not fully realised, and remains untapped. We could start by addressing the accessibility of the online experience, for instance.

With the advancement of technology, are people getting the assistive product they need? What are the benefits of having access to the right assistive products? How exactly does data analytics impact blind lives?

Together let’s catch Daniel Vong on 26th March, 2pm at Seminar Theatre 3 to find out!

All in all, see you at Naidex show!
